OVF Welcomes the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation

October 2023

Melissa Freeman

This summer, the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation Board of Trustees committed $2M to Oregon Venture Fund’s 5-year XV Fund. The Miller Foundation was established in 2002 to enhance the quality of life of Oregonians through the support of classroom education and the performing, visual and literary arts. As one of the largest philanthropic organizations in our region, the Miller Foundation manages over $200M in assets and awarded $10M in grants in 2022 to arts and education nonprofits across the state.

While the Foundation is invested globally, the Trustees understand the importance of investing locally to ensure this region’s economic vitality thrives. Given Oregon Venture Fund’s track record as the leading venture capital fund in this region, the Trustees made the strategic investment for both superior returns and economic impact.

The founder, James Miller was born in Linnton, Oregon in 1905 and graduated from Lincoln High School. As a stockbroker, he built a successful practice in Oregon and his career ultimately led him to New York City. He and his wife Marion were generous philanthropists and their commitment to education and the arts lives on through the many programs that the Miller Foundation supports today.

We are thrilled to welcome the Miller Foundation as an investment partner and look forward to supporting the region’s entrepreneurs together.

OVF is in its 17th year of backing Oregon and Southern Washington-based startups. The OVF XV Fund is currently open to accredited investors, please contact Melissa Freeman, Director of Capital Raising and Investor Relations, 503-539-8021 or Melissa@oregonventurefund.com.
